Eco Week Fall 2025 – Landart with Benjas hedges EN/ FR | 21 – 24.10.2025

Hello garden lovers

🪵🦔🪲
In this updated format of the garden-week we explore every week a new aspect of ecology. We focus on one main project as well as seasonal work that is to be done at this time of the year. We work outside in the land, in the garden, in all weather conditions that are present.

🦔This autumns project: Benjas hedges

This week is all about increasing biodiversity with deadwood – arranged in a special shape called Benjes hedge.

For this we will gather plant material and cut trees or bushes for branches, make and hammer poles into the earth. and then fill them with the dead material to create more living spaces for insects and birds.
October is the time for the last harvest of the year before the winter and frost, it’s about preparing the spaces for short cold days and long dark nights. Coming back into the roots, embracing the ripening at the end of the season and decay. Starting to decompose into new soil for new life in the next spring.

🦔During this week, you will learn:

  • How to build a Benjes hedge step by step

  • Practical skills in working with wood, branches & poles

  • Seasonal gardening tasks for autumn & winter preparation

  • How deadwood structures increase biodiversity & soil health

  • To work with the cycles of nature – harvest, decay & renewal

  • Community living: sharing meals, evenings & co-creation togethe

A week full of hands-on experience, inspiring theory and time to connect with the land

🪲Languages: English (main language), French/ German translation available

Are you interested to get to know the land of le moulin d’Abondance? To work closely within the cycles of nature, learning actively through creating and leaving a mark on this land?
